In the public mind, the main characters of the opera performance are soloists who often take on roles that become permanently present in the current, also popular, culture - who has not heard of Carmen, Don Giovanni or just Madame Butterfly?
However, the opera performance is an artistic teamwork, in which the background characters like orchestra and the choir (and sometimes ballet) also take part. In our stage performance, these will be the best Polish ensembles: Sinfonia Varsovia, the world-renowned orchestra, and the award-winning Polish National Philharmonic directed by Bartosz Michałowski.
Madama Butterfly by Giacomo Puccini on Parade Square will be led by Italian maestro Marcello Mottadelli.
Artists in full force
We are pleased to announce that next soloist-singers joined the Madama Butterfly opera ensemble: Marta Brzezińska (Kate Pinkerton), Karol Kozłowski (Goro) and Dionizy Wincenty Płaczkowski (Prince Yamadori). The National Philharmonic Choir conducted by Bartosz Michałowski will also take part in the performance, whose artists will sing smaller, though no less important, characteristic roles in G. Puccini's masterpiece.
Madama Butterfly is an opera that requires – as is normal for G. Puccini – the best soloists who have to face difficult vocal parts. The leading roles in our performance will be played by: Aleksandra Kurzak (Madama Butterfly), Roberto Alagna (Pinkerton) and Andrzej Dobber (Sharpless), and they will be accompanied by, i.a.: Monika Ledzion-Porczyńska (Suzuki), Łukasz Konieczny (Bonzo) and other artists will write about soon. The Sinfonia Varsovia Orchestra will be conducted by Maestro Marcello Mottadelli.
